Customer Reviews:
Average....perhaps even a step backwards
having used the sony ex71 for a few years the differences of the ex75 are apparent and overall for the worst.
using no EQ, the bass is about neutral, trebles sound a little sharp maybe slightly boosted- this may smooth out over time but has the benefit of showing more detail, but most annoyingly im hearing a narrow dip in the mids which unfortunately gives a slightly boxy and unnatural sound and narrower stereo separation, i cant see this flattening out with use.
in contrast although the ex71's werent perfect with a slightly muddeying and noticeable boosted bass but they had a flater spectrum in the mids and trebles, giving the music more impact, wider stereo spread and overall more musical.
the ex75 are crisp but thinner sounding (although the thinness can probably be equalized), narrower stereo spread like the music is more in front than to the sides when sounds are panned, slightly boxy and slightly unnatural sounding particularly on electric guitar and being less musical some passages of music pass you by without any impact.
theyre not terrible, most people probably wont even notice unless they A/B test with other/better earbuds, but right now i think id take the older ex71's over them.
personally ive always found the ex series comfortable with the soft earbuds, although watch out as the rubbery tips are easily lost. personally ive always liked the cord length too as i wear my player on my arm and the short lead is perfect for this.
the cable is however unreassuringly thinner than the ex71's which always suffered from one earbud going dead in under a year so im not confident these will hold up for more than say 9 months of daily use. thin cable, although light ,also means they will twist and tangle easily.
overall theyre cheap everyday expendable earbuds with an ok/passable sound, but the slight boxyness of the sound and lack of openness is a backward step compared to older sony earbuds so id rather take a different pair of similarly priced earbuds over these.
Sony Earbuds
The item was purchased for a birthday present, so I was pleased that it arrived quickly. I wasn't pleased that the package was opened (broken seal all the way around the package and everything fell out when I opened the box). I paid for a new set, not one of the used. They work fine, so he was happy. I will, however, think twice about purchasing again online because of the open package... it obviously wasn't new.
Needed a new set of "daily use" earbuds
The last set of Sony earbuds that I really liked were the EX70. I have tried a few since then but none came close to these. They are not as bass heavy as the EX70 and have a nice balanced sound. They also seem to have better construction, but I guess time will tell.
You always need to spend some time with these to get the correct size tips. I have to use large for left ear and medium for right. If you don't get a good seal, you will miss out on some of the noise reduction and ALL of the bass. The newer dual density tips are very comfortable and stay on better as well.
I like the dual length cord for armband or pocket use, but I am still a fan of the J style cord (can pop them out to have a quick word with someone or hear something and they just dangle). This is a personal preference, so I see no reason to take points off.
The hard case is a nice addition, but since I wear these daily, it won't see much use.
Great Sound !
I was looking for a good pair of headphones . My first purchase was th Bose earbuds. It wasn't what I expected from bose ( especially considering the price) .I kept misplacing the inserts and the quality of sound wasn't very good.
I got these Sony earbuds on my second try. They are great. The rubber inserts are a lot more fixed and they do not drop off very easily. The sound is fantastic; the highs, mids, and lows are very well balanced. The cord also detaches to half the length; very handy if you're you have a ipod nano and like to have it in your shirt pocket.
They also stay fixed in your ear and keep out sweat (if you jog like me this is definately a huge plus)
I would definately recommend this product to anyone
Sony Mdr-Ex75 Earbuds Headphones
Excellent, Excellent sound with these headphones. I am not the techy type and was not even sure what kind of headphones I should be looking for. I just knew that I wanted something with some good sound. I took a chance on these since they were a bit more pricey. I cannot believe the difference in sound quality compared to the $15-$20 headphones. The earbuds are a bit hard and the rubber inserts could be softer for better comfort. But overall, I would give this a huge thumbs up.
