Customer Reviews:
The worst earphones I have used
I am very frustrated with these as I was expecting them to be great after reading so many great remarks about them. They probably need to be pushed into the ear canal to sound any better and I find that dangerous as well as very inconvenient and hurting. They have very poor bass and the sound level is also very low. Unless some one could advise me how to wear them, I am giving them away.
Factistics:
I've been comparing ear buds out there for years, and I've learned a couple things:
1. 98% of headphone reviews are entirely subjective.
2. Most cheap headphones usually hide the lack of clarity behind 'bass boost'
3. Sony MDR-EX51LP Fontopia Headphones give you the most for your money
4. 43.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot
5. These headphones sound really good with all EQ off (now that's at least 50% more subjective than anything else I've said in this review.)
6. My ears slowly digest earbuds - so I have to keep spare medium-sized fittings around.
7. Amazon is at least 10% cooler now that I've found it to be so easy to get replacement earpieces for this product here.
sony headphones
I had a pair of these before and I need a replacement because I lost my last pair. I love them
Great but Sony makes better
I have had 4 pairs of Sony's over the last 5-6 years, including the 71's. They sound great and hold up for a while. The 71's I can't recommend, and all of the 51's the right earphone lost sound. I have used the Sony MDREX36 for long enough to recommend you check them out before you get any other Sony headphones. Angled earpieces and a volume control in the cord. You will like them. Grandma approved too, she is so happy with hers too!
Sony MDR-EX51LP Fontiopia Headphones
I listen to audio books on my iPod every time I get a chance and these are perfect. The sound is great, they take up very little space and can be worn in one ear so I can hear what's going on around me (like the phone or door or husband) if I want. The only problem I have with them is the cord is so long it's constantly getting caught on stuff. I put the cord under my shirt when I think of it and that helps a bit. Hopefully, cordless earphones are on the horizon.
These particular earphones are great because they are fairly inexpensive but high quality. I occasionally listen to music on them and the sound is fabulous.
