Care How to read the label.
It's important to know how to read the label on clothes you purchase
in Japan. It'd be a shame if you ruined something because you didn't
paying enough attention to the clothing care label.
Here is a list of clothing labels and it's explanation of it.
Washing in Water
Chlorine Bleaching
Ironing
Dry Cleaning
Wringing and Spin-drying

Washing
in Water
Machine wash in water up to 40°C. |
| Machine wash gently in water up to
30°C. |
| Machine wash gently in water up to
30°C with a neutral detergent. |
| Hand wash gently in water up to 30°C.
Do not machine wash. |

Chlorine
Bleaching
Can bleach with a chlorine bleach agent. |
| Do not bleach with a chlorine bleach
agent. |
Ironing
Iron at a low temperature of 80-120°C. |
| Iron at a medium temperature of 140-160°C. |
| Iron at a high temperature of 180-200°C.
A wavy line indicates use of a cloth. |
| Do not iron. |
Dry
Cleaning
Can be dry cleaned with a perchloroethylene or petroleum
solution. |
| Can be dry cleaned with a petroleum
solution. Do not use perchloroethylene. |
| Do not dry clean. |
Wringing
and Spin-drying
Wring gently by hand or for a short time by machine. |
| Do not wring or spin-dry. |
Drying
Hang up to dry. |
| Lay out flat to dry. |
| Hang in the shade to drive. Diagonal
lines indicate hanging in the shade. |
